In the 70's,Slingerland made the Rapid strainer, the Zoomatic, the three point on radio kings, and later in the 70,s the TDR strainer, and the Slapshot..but i've never heard of the ...tge strainer.I think on the super sound king they called it the dual super strainer. There are clear photos in the catalog scans of snare drums.

Hey man,

I'm in the process of restoring a mid seventies Super myself but currently it is in many pieces. Can you post some pics of what you're looking at that doesn't appear right or what you think is a problem, I can probably help.

I have looked at the catalog scans, but they are only shot from the top/front. None are shot from the bottom, showing how the snare wires attach and the bar as well.

Vipuronr, here are some pics of my mid-70s SSK that I had on my work computer, I'll shoot some pictures of the snare setup for you this evening. Note, mine is missing the snare gates.

Thanks Dead...appreciate the pics! Mikey, thanks for the offer, will certainly take you up on it once I figure out what I am missing.

Guys, I'm looking for pics of the bottom on the drum to show the bottomof both strainers and how the snare wires attach. I've seen only one (not close-up) pic

of the boytom and it looks like there is a bar that goes over thewires and attaches to the bottom portion of each strainer. If I'm not mistaken, the adjustment screws into this bar on each strainer. The adjusyment knob looks a lot like the one used on the muffler.

The Tob Cook book does not show this detail and they spent little time on this dual strainer setup. Not sure howpopilar this drum was/is, asit was only in production from '67 to '74/75.

For me,.its cool like the Luddy Super Sensative!

Thanks for the help.

So didn't have time last night to take any pics but I had some time at work to draw up a quick mock up in paint that may help ya out.

Basically the screw attaches the snares to an anchor bar, this bar is threaded. The bar goes through the bottom of the strainer and an adjustment knob attaches on the other end. This provides horizontal tension adjustment. On the later models the bottom of the strainer has a slot where the edges of the snares sit in to provide a little protection for them.

HOORAY MS PAINT!
