Does anybody know the size of the female tap I will need to fix a portion of striped threads -- the main shaft that's attached to the knob. Thanks.

The Zoomatic uses reverse 10-32" threading. Both the rod and the receiver are probably stripped, at least enough so that the rod 'turns in place' and won't tension properly. I know of no available source for taps or dies to repair it.
