OK, these came with my son's 60's Majestic 5 pc. Blue Sparkle set. 14' A Zildjian crash, 15" Paiste Stanople HH and 18" Stanople ride-rivets removed. All I have done is rinse the dust off. No cleaning, buffing etc. just a rinse and dry to get the dust and a litte beertina off, as they were a gig set in honky tonks for many years, and in storage for a number of years. These are in excellent condition, as pix show.

This llittle crash is clear and sweet. No mikes for sound file.DOH

Here the HH, 15" Paiste. They are clear, but not really too loud, as there are thin.

And the 18. Thin to Med thin. I don't have scales, gave that up years ago.... It has a funky, long wash, bright, even tone and clear, crisp bell. As a matter of fact, all of the bells sound superb. Wish I had a mic set over here to set up a file for you, just the way the cookie crumbles, I guess. Anyway, any info or guess' at value would be greatly appreciated.

[COLOR="DarkRed"]It's a pretty Avedis. it's a 1960's, with some nice hammering on underside. probably worth about $60-70 if it is not too heavy (i.e. if it is under 950 grams). If you say it sounds nice, it's likely under 950g.....

The Stanoples...those were Paiste's old budget line. The alloy back then was NS12, referred to sometimes as "nickelsilver" or "nickelbronze". It's a soft alloy, not like regular Bronze.

These were never sought-after cymbals in the vintage community....albeit, I DID once have a pair of Stanople Paiste 'hats (and yes, they were 15"-ers now that I recall)...and they were a medium weight and quite a decent set of rock 'hats, really. Nice and crisp, cut through well with an edgy bright sizzle.

In great shape, 15" Stanople 'hats might fetch about $50-80 on eFlay. The 18" in great shape would get about the same.

But, if they are dinged and dented, their value just goes thru the floor. Looks like someone has played some whup-#ss on those Paistes Mind Blowi based on your pics. Maybe like $25 for the 'hats and $30-40 for the 18".

I would suggest picking up some new 'hats and a new crash/ride. I can imagine the Paistes in that condition don't sound too great.....

Now...you COULD save some $ by just getting a decent 14" to pair up with the Zildjian...because THAT'S a good cymbal. If it is under 950g, it could be the top 'hat...and you could get almost any half-decent thang for the bottom 'hat...even a newer Zildjian ZHT or ZXT, Paiste PST3 or PST5, or a Sabian B8 would work quite well as a bottom to that....you could get those used for under $50 Or just find another old Avedis on eBay for around $50-60.

Then buy a half-decent ride used for $50-75, and use the best-sounding of the three Paistes as the crash....

Thanks Jaye, right on the money. Did you own these once? ;-)As for the Paistes, you are dead on. Someone "loved on 'em a lil bit". And the hats, are light, not very loud at all. The 18, I don't like it at all. However, considering the boy is learning, it should be just fine, as well as for the hats. Now if you really work the hats over, you get them to singing, but it takes work, and it's not all that.

The Z on the other hand, now this little girl is bright eyed and rings like there is no end to the vibes. It has all the range and crystal clear tones flowers2 you could ever hope to find hiding out in a good cymbal. If you tap it and walk away, it will carry on for more that a minute and a half, in under-tone. Just a sweet little cymbal. It is definitely a keeper, unless some one REALLY liked it, then I would still be hard pressed to let it go. The others-eh, don't walk by and say you like 'em, or I'll pick your pocket and run....

[COLOR="DarkRed"]..without you even saying it, I know EXACTLY what those Paistes sound like. But as you said....for a kid learning...they could certainly suffice as a crash. But if you think he's gonna stick to it, I would "up" the hi-hats somehow....
