Mystery drum!

Loading...

Hi,

I have an old snare which I cannot identify. There are no identifying marks anywhere (that I can find - i even took a lug off to see if there was anything on the reverse). I assume it's a (eastern?) copy of an old classic. It has 10 lugs per rim, it measures 22cm deep from rim to rim (about 8.5") and is 14" across. It looks like maple (although i'm no expert) and the finish on the inside is varnished pretty much the same as the outside. I guess it's 7 ply from a quick count of the rings, and the rings are alternating colours - light maple and a darker brown.

I have a couple of pics at:

Any ideas?

Thanks

This is an odd ball snare in my opinion.

The strainer kind of looks like an older Tama and so does the tone control knob.

The lugs have a Yamaha Stage Custom look.

I would think since it is not marked it is a custom build of some sort.

Let's see the inside of the drum.

Also, does the drum have any air holes?
