I picked up this drum from an antique dealer who thought it was from the 50's. I'm sure it is older than that. It only has a head on top which has some type of cloth snares on the inside. It has no markings on the shell or snare mechanism. The head is a Gretsch Broadcaster but that is little help. The only marking on the stand is june 03. Any info would be great. Thanks

I think it's a nokes and nicolai drum. There was one in a local antique shop years ago with he same single head design. Looks similar to the drums in this link...

Hi Tony,
Might be a N&N and it might not be. I assumed mine was until I saw another one with the Nokes & Nicolai badge making mine look suspiciously unlike a N&N and more like it came from elsewhere. Who knows? I think a lot of different companies where putting these things out in the 1910s and into the 20s although none of these single head models seem to be particularly high end. Yeah, what does the snare strainer look like?
