My Super Classic is NOT a Super Classic!!

Live and learn!

When I first started collecting, I thought my 13/16/22/Supra was called a "Big Beat"...but I was wrong.

Then, I concluded it was called a "Super Classic"...and (for the most part) that was correct.

However, I just realized, from perusing the Vintage Drum Guide, that what I had been calling a Super Classic was, in fact, a "DELUXE Classic" due to the upgraded Atlas hardware package and lack of bass drum mounted cymbal arm.

So...I THINK I finally have it right!

My 70's B/O blue sparkle kit is a Deluxe Classic.

Does anyone else own a DC?

Pretty rare with the rail mount in the 70's. Any pics?

Here's a kit I sold last year, 22-13-16, (supra not shown) all original heads, almost NOS, used for a couple weeks in the 70's then put away in cases.

That's EXACTLY what my kit is! EXACTLY!

My bass drum and tom are B/O badges with no seriel numbers. The floor tom has a number that indicates it's from 1976 and I scored the Supra this last year from an antique shop. The numbers on it indicate it's from 1979.

Sorry about thew poor picture quality....the camera reads the new overhead lights as yellow. I need to adjust the setting, but here are a few snaps:

It's ironic to me that my kit WITH HARDWARE (I think the Atlas line was GREAT, single-braced stuff, btw) and original heads (except the snare drum heads -which I replaced with Diplomats) in VERY near-mint condition cost less than what a new re-creation (Legacy) shell pack in the same sizes, would cost, today -by a long shot! What is it with the reso heads of the 70's bass drums? Almost everyone I've seen the Ludwig logo is never lined up with the weathermaster stamp at the opposite end. They are always leaning opposite of each other. I was able to put my Logo on straight.

It's because things were really off center in the 70's! ;)
