That looks really good. I don't think it will be noticeable when you have the whole set up. Can't wait to see them all. Great job !

Thanks guys. It really isn't as good as the pic looks but I am still pretty happy with it for my first time. That scrapbook punch is a good tool. I finally got a hollow punch set on ebay after not being able to find one anywhere! A lot of experimenting going on. Those small holes were tough.

Thanks again Vibes for the piece of wrap.

I'm trying to get it altogether today! Ive been doing a lot of dad duty lately. Ive found its almost impossible to work on drums and chase a 3 yr old!

Well in the last couple days I have put all the lugs and other hardware other than rims on the drums. The light is definitely a friend to the plugged holes repair. Today I took some pics outside in the afternoon sun. Those are the first two pics. It was a overcast evening here in MI tonight and I took a few more pics of the bass drum. This is probably the most realistic light and picture I can get.

I realized the 6 small lugs I have for my 13" are chrome and i need nickel. Anyone want to trade me? If so PM me.

I still need to get a semi gloss on the hoops.

Probably won't get back into this kit till Sunday or so......look for more pics Mon. Maybe sooner. We'll see how things turn out.

Thanks

Curtis

Well it all came together today........and then I had to take the floor tom apart! Ugh! I was very careful to make sure all the lugs had a felt strip in them so I didn't have to do this. But today for some reason I was still getting a rattle! Talk about frustrating!!! I have always put my felt in like the pic below. A few pieces didn't cover the whole spring. Maybe that was it. If any advice on that please advice me! I am also looking for a piece for my floor tom mount also. If anyone has this I NEED it!!! Please PM me and let me know how much. If I can't find one does anyone have another idea for me? There are a few things I still haven't done yet like inlays, another muffler for the ride tom, and I am missing the actual tom mount. I also didn't replace the chrome lugs on the ride yet. Thanks to all that are and have been giving me input here with this project!

Curtis try a eye bolt in the meantime while your looking for the original floor tom mount part. You can file the edges flat for clearance if needed. You might need to add a short spacer as some times the eye bolts in the box stores are not threaded all the way to the eye. They leave a unthreaded shoulder. I was going to mention this in your WTB ad but figured you might have done it already. When I was looking for a set of these FT mounts I saw a few missing that part. And thought about the eye bolt deal as a short term fix until I found the right one.

OH~! True story..........when working on the 40's lugs I have the springs were wrapped completely around in a browish color felt. Was wrapped pretty thick. At first I threw the felts in the garbage can thinking they were someones addition. Was looking at lugs on ebay and saw the same felts wrapped on the springs in a few auctions. Oops thats factory!! LOL took them out of the garbage can and bagged them. Needless to say I now throw nothing away until I know what it is. Re wrapped them on the springs and good to go. Long story short maybe try wrapping the felt around the spring if you have the room. If not check out the non USA drum sections here. 1 thread shows the lug felts like you did but also a small shaped piece on the back of the lug where it rests on the shell.
