My Slingerlands

Loading...

Some shots of the Slings I bought about 10-12 years ago... I paid WAY too much for them, at height of the vintage drum market (remember that?)

18, 12, 14 inchers with a 13" early-style, COB, student model snare I've had for a while (has a hodge-podge of clips/hoops).

I have the bottom tom counterhoops ready to go back on as soon as I make a few repairs and install the Ludwig Weathermasters I have on the way.

More pics with questions on the way..

It's actually not glass sparkle... it's a simple silver sparkle. The inlays on the new BD hoops are a glass sparkle...

I have the original BD hoops at mum's house... along with the T-rods and a few other pieces not suitable for touring/gigging...

The tom mount seems to be original with no other holes or anything. But the dates are May 1965... So I dunno what that means.

Ok so a few questions:

Is the Set-O-Matic mount original to this kit? There are no holes or signs of another type of previous mount. It clearly states "MAY 1965" inside all of the drums.

the Kick is a 14x18" and the mount looks to be installed cleanly.

Could it be a prototype? Or maybe the shells sat at the factory for a while before they outfitted the tom mount?

Thanks!

I love it... I hope to have it "restored", repaired and reassembled this week... I hope to get back to playing before the year is up.

Can anybody shed some light on the Tom/Kick mount and if this is original?

Maybe this was a Jet kit that was updated at the factory?

Did the Set-O-Matic maybe come out before it actually hit the catalog as a standard item?

A little help here...

The badge or the mount appear to be off center...or is it just the camera angle?

My guess is old shell that was around with setomatic installed later which could have been done by the factory in 68, or by a music store. Who really knows with Slingy stuff.

Real nice kit and I love the sparkle. Question (maybe a dumb one): Do you prefer the sound without the resonant heads, or are you still working on completing the kit? The BD badge does look off in comparison to the mount and the lugs. Is the mount OE for that year? Just curious.
