From Drummerjohn333

Do they all feel and sound different? Intrigued mostly by the first 2 (on left) That Wristwatch CB-700 sure looks cool! Are they all COS? Or is there some Brass there?

First, to everyone, thanks for all the positive comments!

DJ333! Yes, there is a definite feel and sound difference with each drum. Just like with drums from different companies, each has its own character and voice. As to shell material, the R-380 is a typical Taiwanese seamed metal shell. The CB-700 and Tama King Beat are seamless steel and the Ludwig is seamless aluminum.

Since you mentioned it! This is my SSK (Super Sound King) that I had back in 2003. The SSK sports NOS Evans Cad Cam heads that I found! The drum came to me with no snare wires and I was able to determine that Puresound RK wires for the Clam-shell strainer would fit. Even with the COB shell, I never felt it sounded that good. Still, I should have kept it!

In your opinion please describe the difference between the Tama and Ludwig sound. I'm looking into purchasing one for a blues gig. Beautiful drums man!

Really nice collection Mark. Especially intriguing is the CB-700. I will have a nice one in a few days ( just what i need...another snare) and understand the "Wristwatch" (haven't heard that term before), is from the early 80's. Could you elaborate on the timeline for those lugs. Didn't know they were a seamless 5.5x14 COS shell. Thanks in advance.
