floor tom
yes! finally got it to work and thanks for the tips guys....
the kick drum and rack tom are darker in color than the floor tom. i will take some pics of bearing edges and the re-enforcements rings are perfect and there is even a initials scratched into the kick drum...the guy i got it from said that it was there when they purchased it from the original owner over 30year ago. and the name is pj charlesworth? i googled him and no luck...ah well i will have to ask around in the drumming circles if anyone in australia hs heard of him?
Thanks, nice pictures, nice drums too. I love them old Premiers. Saw one a year ago at a music-go-round store that was pretty beat up. I wish I would have bought it and refinished it. Someday I would like to get one for myself. Thanks again,
Jeff C
It's in excellent condition and I am so glad I brought it. It was an impulse buy and I ummed and ahhed for an hour or so and then decided to just bite the bullet. I have never purchased a kit without viewing it and I didn't know if I was getting a raw deal or not? I will take heads off and post better pics of inside of shells and the bearing edges tomorrow. I am in 2 minds about rewrap ping or just leaving it as is? The wrap is still ok and it only has 2 very slight cracks near the Tom mount. I won't be mounting the rack Tom off bass drum, so it shouldn't be a problem? I don't think you will go wrong with an old premier vintage kit.
To my knowledge, the kit is from somewhere between 1967 and 1972 - "Opera-house" or "Pointy" lugs, but still the old-style "disappearing" spurs and "Dagger"-tom mount.
The darker drum are african mahogany, the lighter birch - Premier didnĀ“t mind mixing materials in their kits.
Very nice drums.
Jon
