theat educator badge is much like the ludwig combo badges from the late 70's. bermuda has a set of educators. nice mikey! is it indeed plastic or what?

Mike,I don't know what the shell is the drum will be with me sometime next week..I will post a few more photos from the auction at the end of this reply.By the photos iam thinking it's a white vista snare shell-{by the first photo}- or it could be a wood shell{ in second photo} i can not tell till i have the drum.I know that style of badge Ludwig used on the Standard line of drums from 1968-1972 then again in 1980 when they changed from the 3 ply shells to the 6 ply shells also Ludwig used up the rest of the vista shells too,that badge was Combo 2..As far as the Educators line of drums i don't know about that line at all..I have not even seen a catalog showing that line of drums..On onto the two photos from the auction of the shell they are not the best but look at the close-up of the shell and tell what you think..Yes Jomeli57 this drum was on the goodwill site i just did not post it because i was bidding on it.I will say what i got the drum for 127.00+ 20.00 for shipping.I think i may have went high on the drum but i wanted it to add to my collection..Mikey

Alittle more info. on the drum.In 1980 when Ludwig came out with the Combo 2 line of drums-{to used up the 3 ply shell and vista shells}-Ludwig does show a Combo snare in the catalog in the same finish. Yes it is true that the first ones made of the Combo2 line all drums had Plastic lug's.But with all the problems with them Ludwig change out all the lugs to Classic lugs like the ones on this snare.The plastic lugs were not the same shape as the classic ones. The snare lugs had 3 lines but only went half way up the lug and stoped.On the classic lugs the lines were the middle one went all the way to the ends of the lug and the other two lines on the right and left went up to also the top of the lug.This is what this snare has on the drum ..So i will have to wait till i get the drum and look at the shell...Mikey

I'm 99% sure the shell is plastic. This picture clinches it for me:

It's not a 3-ply shell and it looks too thin to be a 6 ply shell. It's not a Vistalite shell.

I'm betting it's plastic. If so, then, yes -VERY rare.
