I'm a drum-playing grandpa, you're a drum-playing grandma, looking out for you is almost compulsory for me! :p
Hey, set up your aunt's Camco's and show them off! I just got a George Way kit that I've been playing and they are some seriously good sounding drums. You should display the Camco's in your new drum room! Post up some more pictures for us as you progress with the room!

Jeff - I own a ton of drum stuff, much more than I need. I never talk about it, but robyn is not the only one I have looked out for in terms of equipment; drums, cymbals, stands, parts, etc. It's not something I do to get recognition, credit, or attention for. More often than not I request that the recipient not mention it in the forum. I do it anonymously for the most part with people who I genuinely like and who I try to help and encourage to continue playing. I think you'd be surprised at the number of responses you'd get if you asked, who has Purdie gifted drums and drum stuff too?I do it because it makes -me- feel good to do it. I get more pleasure and gratification out of it sometimes than even the person on the receiving end! It just feels good to share my good fortune with people I like and that I consider to be my good forum buddies. No applause... just throw money! LOLJohn
John,I know for sure that you give stuff away, and never toot your own horn, because that's not why you do it.You're they type of guy that believes in paying it foward. You're also a class act because, you don't expect ANYTHING in return for that kindness. That is indeed a personal quality that's both rare and admirable.
Bravo sir.You are what someone called a friend, is all about.I'm sorry in advance if i'm embarassing you at all,but your generosity souldn't go completely unnoticed, nor unrecognized.;)Clapping Happy2

Just to get this thread back on track... this is a shot of the 64' Jazzfest I have on lay-away for robyn!

It'll complete that red sparkle kit and robyn will have a killer set of vintage Ludwig's to wail away on.
John
PS - Thanx for all the very kind words....
That is one beautiful drum.
It sure is jeff and i cant wait to introduce it to the rest of the family.

Speaking as one of the many members who's been on the receiving end of John's generosity, I know he doesn't want, need, or like the embarrassment of recognition, but he's one of our biggest proponents here of "paying-it-forward". He and several other generous members are what keep this forum a community rather than just another internet swap meet.
And Robyn, I'm fine with you taking the title of "his favorite". Your tie-dyed kit inspired me to start experimenting in unconventional/non-traditional shell coverings. Keep sharing.

Wow mike, thank you. I did not realize my tie dye project had any kind of inspiration to any member here. I know i had alot of comments and encouragement when i was working on it. Im very happy to know i and something i did inspired another member here. Makes me feel like "one of the guys" here n that is a good feeling.
Glad you really like my tie dyes mike. If ya ever have any questions about them ask any time.
Robyn you are definitely "one of the guys", always have been. I love that ty-dye kit too, groovy man! You have some super nice kits to show off in that room.

Mike,
I want to give you a special thank you for your post mostly because of the public beating I took recently for buying that George Way kit off the CL ad you posted. People don't know that we have a history of dealing with each other and that we were both happy with the final outcome. I'm just glad you posted here, it'll knock that theory that I 'ripped you off' for the Geo. Way kit right in the head.
I really appreciated the kind words. Put that baby to sleep! Kiss
John
