My (new 2 me) mixed era FIBES clear kit

Loading...

Here after long last is a shot of my Fibes mixed era acrylic clear 18/14/12 kit.

I slowly pieced this together from auctions and then had to wait about a year to actually see and play it - as it was sitting back in the USA at my folks home in about 10 different boxes - waiting to be cleaned and assembled.

The "bass drum" is a Nazareth era 18x16 FT in A+ cond. I got two new maple hoops and swapped out the tension lug bolts for bass drum size ones.

I am using a small riser to avoid scratching it up on the floor. Notice the legs- I`m using TAMA cowbell holder clamp brackets and trick bass drum legs- solid as a rock. The original FT mounting brackets for legs are very narrow holes- no good for mounting in bass drum legs. I dig the look and the no need to drill.

The floor tom is 14x14 from the Corder era- came in quite dirty- after alot of washing it polished up sweetly.

The 12x8 tom is the modern era and pristine A+ cond.

I am loving EVANS glass hydraulic clear batters and clear G1 as reso- super controlled and yet powerful sounds.

Hope you dig. Looking forward to playing them around Japan coming up.

3 fibes incarnations in one kit.. and fun sizes.. What I wanna know is what those spurs are called? or the holdes for the spurs? I want those! a sturdy clamp on design! Do they work well?

Nice kit! Can I ask, how much $ was involved? Wondering because there

is a chap locally who spams CL with a Fibes kit listed for 2,400. I heard

he paid 800 for them. Nothing wrong with making a profit, but this local

guy is notorious in these here parts. :)

Found it!!

Thanks bros- I debated alot on what heads to put on these- I almost went with Fiberskyn 3FAs and then I was certain I was going with Ambassador coated all around and then I just got crazy and decided to go Evans Hydraulic- I`m really glad I did. This kit is mostly for classy work with an R&B/Soul singer I work for and it needed to have a controlled sound- lots of definition and attack, less sustain. I am happy with the hydraulics for the moment but certainly will try Fiberskyn 3FAS top and bottom at some point if I start using these for jazz.

The bass drum leg bracket is the standard TAMA one - not expensive at all- very solid. I use a piece of felt between the clamp and the hoop to prevent any wood damage. There has been no slipping at all. The legs there are from TRICK.

EricP - I`ll PM you what I paid
