My Mentor and Local Jazz Legend Died

Loading...

Hello Everyone,

My name is Gary Stanionis, my friends call me "Big G".My mentor and friend Mr. Scott Ickes pasted away last Thurs., May 11. I have been asked to help his wife sell all of his gear. Apparently she was left with little to nothing due to Scott Loosing his 401K in the recession. This is a extremely hard duty because I spent more than 15 years learning and geeking out on this exquisite collection.

Here are the details:

1949 Leedy Jazz Kits Very good condition. Bottom heads have tacks to hold them on.

How Much are each worth?

1965 Leedy Jazz Kit Immaculate Condition!

1973 Ludwig Octa Plus Immaculate Condition!

I was told by my close friend and Ludwig Historian, Todd Trent I could get $4,000 easy for these.

Do you agree?

1993 Yamaha Maple Custom

Immaculate Condition

How Much is this kit worth?

Again this is for my mentor's widow. Please Help.

You know Todd? He is the coolest person I know. I live in So. Calif. and I'd be interested in the Leedy Jazz Kit. PM me if you want to see if we can work things out.

I realize this is a difficult time, however, many factors will affect the price. Timing to market, and wrap color are the two biggest, right after condition. Some colors are much more desoirable than others. And what may be a less desirable wrap for one company will be highly sought after from another. It is much easier for us to help with valuation if you can provide quality pix, and a good description of each drum, and all the sizes and any hardware, cymbals, etc.

Sorry to hear oif your loss. I have heard of Scott. Good luck, and you may post them here as this community may be the first and best place to mive quality gear quickly. As for the Yammies, look up some completed, like sets on ebay for a good average price. Unfortunately, that will be about what you get, if you don't want to sit on them. And ebay can be brutal. The costs are outragegeous to the seller, something like 10% by the time all is said and done.
