My Ludwig restoration project

Im new here just thought id share some pics of my Luddies as I carry out the restoration project, which is almost complete...

Before - Resonant hoops missing, chrome work pitted, in need of some TLC.

Kick drum stripped down, parts ready for cleaning/replacement

13" Rack and 16" floor after all lugs cleaned and during replacement of hoops. Also fitted with new REMO Vintage A heads.

The new reso head for the kick drum arrived today and I am awaiting the arrival of a full set of new t handles and claws for the kick, plan to re paint the hoops this next week after which it will be complete.... Updated pics to follow. Hope you like?

So somebody smart teach me a little something about properly dating this Ludwig kit..

Working from The Ludwig Book, by Rob Cook p.181.

Mid 69' the keystones went away and the blue/olive appeared with 6 digit serial numbers..

Somewhere in late '68 went from white paint back to natural finish on maple interior plys... then in '70 they went to granitone.

So is this a 1969 Ludwig Deluxe Classic in Oyster Blue??

It's very nice, what a great project!

Not a Guru... just interested..

Pointy Blue and Olive badges, 3 ply with Re-Rings puts it somewhere in the early to mid 1970's. But you can check the serial numbers and find out the exact year of manufacture here:
