My first Standard

Loading...

Hi Fellas, long time without notify some purchase...

I'm back with.... my first Standard! (yeah yeah, I know this is not a Golden Triumphal, but.....L.O.L.!!)Walking

After been collected Ludwig for almost 15 years, I had never been interested in that particular line though, just prejudice!!!

Been learning around with you guys, made me take a new visión over some drums including these babies.Yes SirCoffee Break2

The main point that surprised me was the fact that it's a Chromed (not the regular smooth alum.), so I'm really intrigued by what kind of "sound palette" it could fit:

Supra like? More Acro? 50/50"? Let's find out!!

Another salient point is that snare come 100% original including heads!

And last but not least, it worth an inconspicuous amount of 110 bucks, not bad at all, right?Yes Sir

Here are the pics from the seller in actual condition... I'll attached later some more after my "personal treatment"FYI

Thanks in advance for any usual help, comment or info.

Have a nice weekend everybodyParty

All the Standards I have seen and owned have been the aluminum "acrolite" finish. Chrome must have been low production. Anyway, I really like my 2 Standards.

(The lugs are threaded so the jam nuts can be replaced with regular cup washers and screws. Also, bow tie lugs will fit.)

Nice score.

I've seen more than one of these with tube lugs installed. Kind of a different look with the bead-less shell. Not as readily identifiable as a redone Ludwig.

I believe those are the same spun shells as the Acro and supra but they left the bead off because they didn't produce a notched lug to accommodate a bead (using the same double ended lug on both wood and metal snares).

These don't seem to be exceedingly rare but you don't see one everyday. They don't seem to flake nearly as bad (or at all) as the Supras from the same era either.
