My first Project (slingerland Snare)

Loading...

Been trolling these forums for quite sometime but never had a reason to really post til now. A friend of mine was moving and had this snare sitting in a junk pile. I asked him why he was throwing it out and he said it was a peice of junk and he didn't want it. Anyways as you'll see its and old slingerland that has been given a very bad paint job. Other than some of the information on this site I know little about it I've only found 1 pic online that looks like it but I still can't figure out if I should put the effort and money into restoring this or if the restoration cost will outweigh the value and sound once finished. Ideally I would like to play it once cleaned up. Anyways all opinions, information, tips, testimony's are welcome! Just like the subject says this is my first vintage drum so I'm taking my time don't want to end up makeing it worse. Here's the pics:

That is a beaut!! She is a Slingerland 7 X 14 1928-34 "Professional" model snare. It probably has a solid Maple or Mahogany shell. Most of these were in a Duco, two-tone finish. Great score!

I like that! It's drums like that I can't help but restore. Good luck, & if you ever don't want to, offer it up here.
