My First Kit...info please?

My first kit was a Mica-Sonic 4-piece kit w/ a strange textured white wrap on it. It consisted of a 20 X 14 bass, 14 X 5.5 wood shell snare, 12 X 8 rack tom, and a 16 X 16 floor tom. All of the drums were 9-ply shells. Surprisingly it came stock w/ all Remo heads.

My parents paid $150 for it in 1979 for my 9th birthday. Does anyone have any info on this brand of drums? I've heard they were made by Hoshino, the parent company of Tama...that would be kind of funny since I replaced this kit w/ a Tama in 1985. Sometimes I wish I still had my first kit...

I just sold an unbranded set exactly like yours about a month ago.MIT (made in Taiwan)stencil drums wth hex-rod mounts and the white "leatherette"wrap.Cloned Pearl hardware,Luan 6 or 9 ply construction.There were so many brands-Royce,CB 700,Maxtone,Whitehall,Penncrest plus dozens of others.All the same.

...wow...I graduated in '79...but those are indeed Pearl derivatives, as Tom states, of some some un-described brand name...cool hair too...mine was once like that...before it all fell out...but it was a dirty blonde that the girls really liked for some God-forsaken reason....
