Thanks guys.
Yes - they are hard to part with. The good is that I still have three Gretsch kits.
1) my late 50's Gold Sparkle 20/12/14 5.5x14 which you will have to pry out of my cold dead hands haha.....
2) my PWAM 6pc...a killer kit and the first one I bought when I returned to drumming in 2007 after a 31 year break....
3) and my Champagne Sparkle kit 18/12/14 4.5x14 all the shells signed by Fred Gretsch...the bd and toms signed by both Mr. Gretsch and Paul Cooper to me at the factory...so they're rather special.
I also still have a 49 Gretsch Parade, and two 9x13 and one 8x12 Orphan toms and 4 or 5 Gretsch snare drums. I even have a Will Tillman 3ply snare shell....special order to the old 3ply Gretsch standards - not even drilled for hardware yet........a far-in-the-future (not too far I'm old) snare drum project. And I'm sure I have more that I haven't even kept track of. This collecting business can get out of hand even for the new-commer like myself. I've only been collecting since about 2009.
I do have the following 8 drums FOR SALE - most not posted yet and will be for local pickup only - but I would make an exception for Forum Members in that regard:
a Slingerland Parade 15",
a Carlton 14 tacked reso headed tom signed by Bun Carlos,
a 16" 1965 Ludwig floor tom in WMP,
a metal (very heavy!) MIJ snare drum....
and the two MIJ snare drums I have posted here in the For Sale thread already,
a MIJ Hackco tom (8x12),
a MIJ Lido tom (9x13)
There could be more drums lurking....I will have to check later.
I've reposted my Valje drums at $4500....down from $5000 (started at $6500 where I was told by some experts - collectors - years ago they are worth at least that ...but to the right buyer). They are for Local Pickup Cash only. I have them set up in my livingroom on my new Vermont Maple Pergo floor and they sound like heaven. Someone will eventually buy them and they will have a very special Vintage Valje set.....one of a very few 'complete' kits...quinto/conga/tumba/super tumba and matching bongos.....this is me a couple of years ago....looking way too serious....
