The coolest thing is that this tag is on a 7-liner that Wayne has owned from day one! Very, very cool and kudos to the producer of that great repro tag.

Curious too Wayne, you bought your kit in '67, right? What is the number on that snare and what are the numbers on the rest of the kit. I bought a '67 blue onyx a couple of years ago from the original owner that purchased it from a Sam Ash store on Long Island in September '67. He got a deep discount and I have kind of assumed it was a left over kit being cleared out for the new '68 orders. The snare is 5 line with serial number 11908 so looking for a dating thing with this inquiry.

Hi Dan,yes i bought the original 6 pc. on Feb.3rd 1967 and still have the original receipt. So in all likelyhood they were probably made in 66`.The dyna serial # is 8103

20"x14"Cleveland bass-54960

16"x16"Cleveland ft-53509

16"x16"Cleveland ft-55196

13"x9"Cleveland tom-45189

13"x9"Dayton tom-90746

Additions to the set in 68/69

20"x14"Dayton bass-91428

13"x9"Dayton tom-90744

13"x9"Dayton tom-64947

What i find really odd about my serial #`s is that two of the 13x9 toms are only (2) #`s apart 90744 and 90746 and yet were bought at least a year apart from each other, very strange coincidence here for sure.Would be great to hear your thoughts on this Dan.Are the 90### and 91### serial #`s 1968 or 69 and where does that 45189 sit into the fray? I know it was bought on Feb.3rd 67`.Hope my info is of some help to you as these #`s sure are confusing to me.Thanks.

Thanks Jeff-the tag really does look terrific on the Dyna thanks to Glenn and John-such fantastic talent they both have!

Wayne,

Those numbers are very interesting. I'd have to guess that the bulk of the original set had been in inventory for a while. Then when your dealer's order came in for champange sparkle they built the 9x13 with the tag 90746. It is either that, or Rogers numbers were just completely random and packages were laying about with a huge spread of serial numbers that got applied without concern.

Very freaky that the other 9x13 is about the same serial number.

I have a jet black kit with speckled interiors and the following very close serial numbers that I assume is a '68:

Tom Dayton 104519

Floor Dayton 104987

Bass Dayton 104208

I've associated a matching Dyna with serial 11881.

Also a red onyx set that has these very close numbers that I assume is early '69:

Tom Fullerton 10434

Floor Fullerton 10480

Bass Fullerton 10347

The tags in this set are borderless Holiday. I've associated a COB Dyna 11908 to that kit, and that is the Dyna that came with blue onyx set originally purchased in Sept '67.

So it seems that sometimes things went out the door as an ordered set with close tags that maybe on person on the assembly line installed. Then other times, maybe more than one person assembled the drums and the tags were more random.

Again, the cool thing is that you were the original buyer and you recall the details of when and how!

Dan,

Good point as to the my 13x9 with serial #90746 being so far off from the rest of the original set.But that other 13x9 serial#90744 bought over a year later is freaky for sure(only 2 nos. apart!) will likely always be a mystery to me.Hope our sharing of nos. info has been of some help to you in the dating of your Rogers sets.TommyP is an excellent source of dating Rogers by serial #`s,so if you were to pm him on this i`m sure he`d be a really big help to you in this regard.BTW-you have some incredible sets there Dan.

I'll geek out!

I'm missing a few of my dynas which are being stored down south (couple more wood and a BB cob) but here are two of them with me! I'll get the correct wire once i have all 5 together.
