my 60's bop ludwigs

Loading...

hey everyone,

brand new to this very cool forum!

had a couple initial questions for some of you drum experts out there:

first the details:

i have a 65-67 club date, black oyster pearl ludwig kit; not numbers matching

20"-1966

12"-1966

13"-1967

14"-1965

all drums are in very solid shape; there are some scratches.

i do have a 66 and 67 supra but no matching snare; one in very good shape and one with some pretty bad pitting

learned recently that the clubs are not worth as much as bop w/ the two-sided lugs;

wanted to get an idea of what mine could be worth and would it be worth it to get the matching snare?

in other words, is the matching snare different on a club date? i would like to keep it all original.

note: the double tom mount seems be original; there is a mount for what I would guess is a cymbal stand next to the double tom mount; it doesn’t look like this was an aftermarket attachment; whatdayathink?

have both original heads and hoops for the 20;

all original hardware on all drums from what i can tell

here are a few pix.

Any suggestions or comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Cool looking set...if you ever would like to sell let me know. As, far as price goes...this set will not get as much as most considering it was pieced together. Your best bet would be to sell one of the toms separately and keep the set as a 3 piece.

thanks for the reply; i appreciate it;

did they make a bop for the club date kit? or was it the same as the normal bop?

do you think the kit originally came w/ the two tom rack w/ cymbal holder since you say it was pieced together?

It was the same as the normal BOP. As, far as two toms...I would have to assume one was added to the set. May you send me the serial number and some larger pictures? I will be able to tell a lot more if I could see them better. Thanks.

Well here goes the evaluation...

1966 Supra-phonic($200-$300)

-Depending on pitting and original parts

Red-Top Seat($35-$75)

-Depending on missing parts and tears in the seat

Speed King,Hi-Hat Stand, snare stand($100)

-If the snare stand is not ludwig -$15

Pieced together Club Date set($650-$800)20, 12, 13, 14

So, my estimate would be around $1,200 for the set all together. You could probably get more if you sold the stands, 1 of the toms, and snare separately. Hope this helped a little.
