Currently my first set ever 1983 Pearl Export original owner. 2008 Grestch Catalina Maple, and a 1970 Star kit. Many snares including a big R Dynasonic.
Previous Rogers Holiday 12, 16, 20 and powertone snare.

Nice. Just picked up a snare in the same finish, (rectangle badge, 3 ply, re-rings) - found it to be much 'bluer' under hoops and lugs - have you checked yours? Love this finish.

You are correct the finish underneath the tom mount is very blue.

This finish looks nice, even well mellowed. The fade on my snare seems pretty consistent overall - not noticeable unless you expose a covered portion. I've completely disassembled the drum, and treated the inside with several coats of tung oil. Polished the chrome, and did a Novus polish on wrap. Drum is sounding pretty good, but I've got a heavy reso on it right now, and would like to get a proper hazy on there to properly judge. Hoping to tweak this so I can possibly use it with my oyster blue pearl Ludwigs - not too far off, finish-wise anyway.
