My setup using atlas mounts and new ludwig hardware doesn't look very vintage, but it works well for me. I use them to support a cowbell, a 20" crash, a 22" ride and a 10"x14" tom. 6 ply and 3 ply drums. Never had an issue and drums still fit in hard or soft cases.

Yes to all of your questions. I use this on a different kit for the ride cymbal and use on this kit for cow bell.
