More Sonor Tigers

Here's another one for the records Oddball :)

I finally managed to find the missing items to complete my Teardrop Tiger kit, plus another bass drum, which is a bonus: now I can start building the German equivalent of Keith Moon's set :) There's no stamp inside the BD and TT I can see, but there is a faint one in the FT: 409... All the little details tell me this is a matched set, though I can't confirm that at the moment.

There's quite a few issues with this one, but I think I can make it sing again - eventually... The TT and FT are slightly out-of-round in the middle of the shell and they're both missing a hoop, someone has fitted metal reinforcing plates on the spur and cymbal mounts - both inside as well as outside the BD - so there are extra holes, a BD spur is missing and the other one is missing its ring (the one that goes above the rubber tip), a BD hoop and its T-rods are also gone, no badge on the BD... and a couple of other things I'm forgetting right now. The whole kit is dirty as hell (the BD especially) and feels oily to the touch, as if it's been sitting in a garage for 50 years. There's also some kind of sticky residue behind the lugs and under the hoops, right where the skins touch the bearing edge - no clue what that is... Oh, someone's spilled something on the TT and FT and there's some kind of mark left on the wrap at places, kinda like a burn mark that has healed - not readily visible, but it's there.

This one will keep me busy for a while...

Those are gorgeous !!

Whatever the amount of love required to bring them up to par, it will be well worth it!!

Here`s your kit..............and you know Henk has one !i

With your shells, you need HH and crash to complete a cataloged Chicago kit. or, you could add a ride to that and have a cataloged Star kit. (Kenny Clarke)

Sept, 1964. Your BD has the off set mount so it`s pre 65. It`s a matching kit.

Everyone digs that wrap.

If your mounts have the mallet logo and NOT this screw.....it`s pre 65.

This BD is post 65 with centered mount and screw.

Nope, it's pre-1965 alright... Off-center mount, mallet logos, the slotted screws shown below - the BD mount doesn't even have a screw, but a wingnut. I hope the threads are OK...

I'm a little concerned about those metal plates fitted on the BD to be honest - I sincerely hope they were used simply as reinforcements, not to conceal damage to the shell. I guess I'll find out when I strip 'em :) Will be coming back soon with more pics.
