More info on this Ludwig 8 Lug Snare Please

Loading...

I came across this snare and im thinking of buying it. The guy is only selling it for $50. All I know about it is that it has 8 lugs, and a p83 strainer. So it could be from the 60s. If anyone can give me more information on it please DO!

It's hard to tell from those photo's but the lugs do not look like Ludwigs to me. I also can't figure out the finish/wrap. Looks like no re-rings ? Is it date stamped inside the shell ? A very odd looking drum.

The p-83 is worth at least $50.00, therefore, I say buy it. I do see re-rings and it does appear to be a maple interior. The lugs look like Pearl to me. The finish looks like Tiger's Eye (which I think is an official vintage Pearl wrap color).

My GUESS is that it's an old Pearl drum with a P-83 put on to replace the notorious vintage Pearl original. Hey, it might sound good! But, your investment is safe due to the P-83 (as long as it is functioning). Somehow, that photo makes it look as if the top of the arm of the P-83 is broken. If that's the case, then I doubt I would give $50.00 for it...but, hey, I'm cheap!

Better pictures (badge, interior, etc.) would be helpful and it would be nice if the light in the pictures is not mottled by that lace curtain! Burger KinWelcome

It looks like a Japenese Stencil drum to me. The lugs llok like slingerland knockoffs and I bet the shell is Luan. I have a similiar one made by the Lyra Drum Co.
