I have been looking for wires for my 13" Super Gene Krupa snare for quite a while now, with no luck. The drum has the Clamshell/Super strainer. Puresound makes wires for the 14" snares but not for the 13". I have tried to contact them through their web page and via email regarding custom lenght wires but they have not responded.

My question is:

Would it be possible to shorten a set of 14" wires so that they will fit my drum? I was thinking of buying a 14" set and cut 1" of the wires and solder it back to the mounting plates. Has anybody tried anything like this before?
