Modern clutch to fit Vintage HiHat stand

Loading...

I need a good modern clutch to fit my vintage Slingerland hihat stand that has a 1/4" diameter rod. I like the modern ones because they grip better and, for the most part, aren't threaded in the area that makes contact with the cymbal.

Which ones would work for this application? My Pearl clutch is a little big :(

Thanks!

Check out Tama clutches. I recall older Tama pull rods were smaller diameter than Pearl's. I've used them on Ludwig hi hat stands.

Questfordrums,

I have not got one but I would recommend that you look at Axis Percussion for a feltless clutch - this can even tilt the top cymbal should you require. I use their pedals and can confirm that the quality is excellent.

I have Emailed them to check size of hole and will post when I have a answer.

Possibly,

But it is an option. They do the stands as well (I have one on my wish list... approx £180.00) although, Now that I have discovered that I play a vintage premier kit!! (that makes me feel old) It might be wrong to upgrade bits, when the original is working fine.

Although the sound of a linear ball race for the up and down movement instead of metal to metal does sound smooth, and you can rotate the legs to get rid of the fact that a leg always wants to go where you put you other pedal.

Thank you, bjolly! I'll be interested to here the size on that. Everything from Axis looks like it could be used for space travel, haha. I have a longboard bass pedal taht works just as smooth as the day I got it.

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay I am going to chase Axis again... they haven't as yet come back to me. That is... unless my anti spam filter has gone all over active again.
