Model Of Slingerland Snare?

Loading...

Hi,

I recently picked up a Slingerland Silver Sparkle Snare and am trying to identify the particular "model" as well as the year it was built. The finish and all hardware seem to be in immaculate condition.

Here's what I see in front of me:

8 centered Sound King (?) lugs;

Round dial-tone muffler;

Stick-saver rims;

Rapid Strainer;

Black & Brass Niles Badge w/SN 185329;

14 inches x 6 1/2 inches (including rims); and

Tan-colored interior shell with wooden reinforcement rings.

By the way, a magnet does not stick to the rims or the lugs. Does this indicate that they're chrome over brass?

ANY AND ALL information would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS in advance for your time and consideration!

1960s 5 x 14" Hollywood Ace...rims are chrome over brass. Slingerland lugs were not brass...they were what I've heard called "pot metal," a cheap alloy.

THANKS for the information, Rich!

I always thought that the Hollywood Ace Model has the "tombstone" strainer.

THANKS AGAIN, Rich!

Any idea what a snare like this is worth, if it's in near mint shape?

THANKS in advance!
