Hi all! I hope you're enjoying the summer - it sure is nice and warm here (save for some pretty wild thunderstorms).

In a news article about summer music festivals in Czech Republic, I stumbled upon this photo:

Let's overlook the fact that they're using old telephones as microphones, they lack lead guitar and the bass has only three strings and look at them drums. What do you think they are? They look like an early 70s MIJ kit. Yamaha, possibly? The cymbal also could be vintage.

Sorry - but no.

They are definitely too young to know the function of these rare old machines from the reality.

The drummer is shouting so loud into it, because he otherwise is too low in volume. (And still he has not detected that the mouth piece is at the other end of this curious mic. DOH)

They're called Japanther and apparently are quite 'famous' - in the indie circles, that is. They've been in business from 2006 and their performances, often accompanied by choreographed swimmers or bikers are said to range from hardcore to art rock. My guess is that regular microphones are hidden inside the old phones.

The photo in this article can be enlarged by clicking on it - or some reason, I can't link to the enlarged photo.

Someone needs to send them a t-shirt with a picture of Maxwell Smart ,on it, talking on his shoe phone. Then they could have Bart and Smart, t-shirts.

Burger Kin I am going to say they are circa 1968 Pearls-probably the "Super Deluxe" outfit,as the swivel spurs, ten lug bass and eight lug FT are there.I think they should change their mic's to Drive-In speakers...
