I'd guess Star also, most of the Pearls had "World Supreme Quality" or something similar on the badge. Most, but not all. I think that started around the mid sixties.

Hello,

Sorry to contradict (after all these years ...): World's Supreme Quality was a slogan used by Star, only. Not Pearl.

The Supreme drum kit from the TS is not made by Star: brackets of the floor tom leg, the cymbal arm mount at the bass drum, the bracket type of the bass drum legs, the angle adjustment at the rail consolette (with the holes in it) and, finally, the not typical design of the badge tell that this kit was made by any other MIJ company (maybe Hoshino Kougyou?).

100% made by Star.

Nope.

Please, read my arguments against that carefully.

Additionally, I should clarify: My assumption is, that if there's just one ( ! ) clear ( ! ) deviation ( ! ) from all the information gathered at the Tama's Vintage Catalog web site, I say that a kit is NOT being made by Star. Only ONE deviation is sufficent.

In this case there are even four deviations.

Ralf

NB: Modifications at the hardware parts, done afterwards, may lead to another result ... (In this case I don't assume that modifications were done.)

Hello,

I have to revise my previous assumption - as I found an Apollo drum kit with a badge stating 'World's Supreme Quality' PLUS a rail consolette like the one in this thread (with those holes for changing the angle), in another drum forum and just on today.

Obviously Star also produced (it must have been a short time in the 60's) this version of a rail consolette - although not a single Star catalogue shows it.

I apologize for the confusion.

Nevertheless: I'm careful with such a type of the badge, as it's not the typical one for Stars ... Maybe it's added on by a major wholesaler to have an 'own brand'? In that case it may happen that other kits with the same badge may have totally different hardware parts ... and are not made by Star then.

Cheers,

Ralf
