MIJ Star in White Satin Flame 12/16/20

Hello. I am up to my eyeballs in drum projects and never got around to these. These drums need work. I repeat: These drums need work! Nothing too major, but some definite TLC will be involved.

As is common on satin flame wrap, the wrap is quite scratched up and is brittle and "drying out" a bit, especially at the seam and around the lugs. Everything will need a thorough cleaning as well. Without further ado, on to the pics. I will post each drum with its own pics separately.

Rack Tom: There is a little separation where the re-rings meet themselves, and the shell where the top head re-rings meets itself needs some repair (In the second pic, the "crack" is where the re-ring has separated and some gouging of the wood has occurred). The previous owner used a rigged up tom holder with a screw, which made marks in the wrap above and below the tom bracket. Hoops and tension rods are present, but no heads. Some of the tension rods are different from each other, but all work. The tom bracket is missing one screw.

Floor Tom: There is little separation where the re-rings meet, but nothing too bad. There is a gouge out of the top re-ring and you can see where the wrap is a little loose along the top and at the seam. Hoops, heads and legs are included, but it is missing 8 tension rods.

Bass drum: One spur mount has cracked through the wood shell and needs repair. Where this has happened, a chunk of wrap is missing. The wrap is lifting a bit at the seam, and is cracking a bit along the front head at the bottom. Missing spurs and tom mount. Spur brackets are missing wing nuts. Heads, hoops, T-rods and claws are all present, but some of the claw hooks are different from each other, and one T-rod is different, but all work. The front head is ported and there is a small crack near the Sound Master Logo.

This would be a neat project to take on. Again, I stress, these drums need work, and the wrap is in fair condition. Lots of scratches, and small cracks here and there. $100 plus shipping.

So long as the repairs can be done - this is going to make a SWEET kit, as these shells sound amazing once good heads are installed and tuning is done right. Tuning tends to be really easy with these shells as well since they are so crazy resonant.

I HIGHLY recommend this kit.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
