I know you will all most likely tell me to "post some pictures" and I will, but here is my question. I have a few orphan MIJ vintage drums that I am thinking about letting loose of. I am not too good with values on the MIJ stuff, and I know they aren't worth a bunch, But what would you guys like to see if you were buying. I have a Majestic 20" and 14" floor that match each other. They are both a dark brownish satin flame, I also have a 12" delrey tom in silver sparkle, and a 20" orange sparkle bass drum that is not badged. Any input to a starting asking price would be cool.
MIJ orphans?
It's not unheard of to find a full, matched MIJ kit for $25, while at the same time there are characters on Ebay asking thousands for them... Orphans are great if you've got something that someone else wants, but otherwise they just use up valuable storage space. Patience may pay off, (though not lucratively) but in the short term I wouldn't expect to get much, if anything if you're looking to unload them quickly and easily. Pics are always good of course - and perhaps someone on here will see this and make you an offer. Good luck.

I was just thinking of clearing out some room, They are all good playing drums, and I do use them in a practice set up now and then, but I wouldn't be apposed to trading. I will post some picts soon, and let the you all see them. Thanks for the input!!
So I looked through my stuff, and as per usual I am having a hard time letting loose of some. But I would gladly let these Majestics go to clear out some space. I know I should post this in the sell trade area, but I started the thread here, so I will continue here for now. Let me know if anyone wants to make a deal, or trade or whatever. 20" and 14" floor. No bottom hoop or tension rods on the floor, and I do have most of the hardware to make the rail usable again. The covering is all there, but there is usual satin flame scratches.
Funny - speaking of guys asking thousands; I recall several months ago, seeing a full kit, just like this, (actually Star badged I believe) that a guy had up on ebay, asking something like $1,800 I believe. Not sure if he ever sold it, but I think I saw it down to about $850, or $950 last time I checked. Not to say that they're worth that, but if someone here is trying to finish a kit in that wrap, you could make a few bucks, as well as make someone here happy - 14" floor toms are always in demand as well. Good luck.

That finish is really cool - but the set is incomplete. If you get 100 bucks for it you should be more than happy. But I think it would be selling for US-$ 50 or less.
The bass drum with it's 10 lugs in 'offset style' is strange and very cool!
Perhaps you could make more money if you sell each item separately.

Money is always nice, But I think I started here in hopes that one of you MIJ guys might find a good home for them. I'm not looking for the world, Just looking to pass on some orphans to a good home. If anyone thinks they can't live without them, or they have some to match them. Hit me up with an offer or a trade.
Hey Ryan:
My next kit in the garage is a Majestic kit with snare, side tom and 20" kick, but no floor tom. The wrap on my kit is blue marine pearl and is sweet, but your's is as well. Let me know what you have to have out of yours as I re-wrapped quite a few kits in the past. I really kind of dig these Majestics with the off set lugs and the hardware is heavy duty! Mine have the SS rims on the snare and I'm trying to put this kit back into shape with original parts, so it's more of a labor of love.
Check out the green sparkle Ludwigs on the front page of members kits and you'll see my handy work on some orphans!

WOW - what an amazing match of two people with the same obscure color of these Majestics (which are a bit on the rare side). The extra FT and the missing FT - AMAZING!
