Greetings,
Nice MIJ "Players" kit for sale. The wrap matches (or is darn close) on all the drums, but they all have different lugs, making this a "Franken-Kit" of sorts. The photos should do the talking, but here are the details:
8" x 12" Rack Tom: Center mounted "club date" style lugs. 3 ply with re-rings. One extra hole filled in, it is hidden by the diamond shaped clip mount (see internal shot for said hole-First picture in response below)). Internal muffler complete. Interior and exterior in good shape. The wrap matches the bass perfectly, and is just a slight bit more orange than the floor toms.
14" x 14" Floor Tom: This is a poplar or basswood shell. Probably 5 or 6 ply. Slight lifting of seam on wrap, nothing major. Original vent hole filled in, new one has threaded chrome 1/2" style. Interior and exterior in great shape. Internal muffler complete. Wrap matches other floor tom perfectly, but is just a tad less orange than the bass and rack.
16" x 16" Floor Tom: This is the only drum that is branded (Werco). Thicker, heavier MIJ shell with gray painted interior, no re-rings. Slingerland copy lugs. Interior and exterior in great shape. No extra holes. Internal muffler complete. Has Mapex 2.3mm Power hoops top and bottom. Wrap matches other floor tom perfectly, but is just a tad less orange than the bass and rack.
14" x 20" Bass Drum: It is missing the front head, but I do have the matching hoop, tension rods and claw hooks. Huge, battleship style lugs. 3 ply with re-rings, including one down the center of the shell. Some extra holes filled in. Original rail mount holes (existing is close but not quite). Also hole at top center of shell filled in, from an old 7/8 L-arm style mount. Sadly, the original owner had to cut some of the re-ring away for the mount to work. One side of the center re-ring where it has been cut is a little loose and could be easily glued, but I had no problems with it rattling at all (See last photo in response below). New wrap glued down over old holes, and under cymbal bracket to repair crack (in the wrap, not the shell). Some buckling of the wrap around the lugs, Otherwise shell and wrap are good. Hoops are chrome metal with matching inlay and have a unique rubber insert glued in all the way around. Looks cool and is much easier to clamp a pedal to. Spurs have been modified for better stabilization. Spurs were initially not even long enough to touch the ground. I took off the rubber tip, cut some 3/8" threads, and JB Welded a coupling nut and 3/8" hex head screw on, then cut the head of the screw off and put the rubber tips back on. It's solid, one piece spur and is tons more stable than the original, with a lot more leeway in positioning now. The wrap matches the rack tom perfectly, and is just a slight bit more orange than the floor toms.
I have these listed locally for $350. VDF Member price: $300 plus shipping. I am also willing to meet within 100 miles of the Cincinnati area, which would include Lexington, Louisville, Indianapolis, Columbus and Dayton.
Thanks,
V
