MIJ Identification and parts.

Loading...

A few months back I picked up a 60's era MIJ kit for $150. It had been re-wrapped "badly" in that silver sparkle contact wrap. Thre were no badges or markings other than made in Japan on the Bass Spurs and Snare Throw off.

When I posted the origional pics some members ID it as being Hoshino (not pre Tama). Since then I have stripped all the silver sparkle off and am slowly re-building the kit. Ive used now as is for about 10 gigs and it sounds great. But I am finding getting parts not so easy. I've included a shot of the snare lugs. They seem to be a radio king copy 2-1/2 inch overall with a 1-3/4 inch on center hole spacing for the mounting screws. See pics for more info. Anybody know a good source for these. I'm also looking for a MIJ bass rail consollette to replace the shaky center stand one. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

i'm having trouble finding exact info on these lugs too, but i have 6 of them.

i also think i have the matching (or close to) bass drum lugs and t's/claws.

i'm sure other on the forum are more versed on these parts/drums than i am.

from other responses on this site and doing looong web searchs, i believe the lugs to be used on pearl, star, maxitone and others of the like.

the first pic is my snare lugs. the others are what i found online to use for reference.

if you want pics of my bass drum lugs/claws and stock bass drum lug pics, let me know.

The lugs in question were used on Pearl made sets from the late 60's to mid 70's.On about 25 names that Pearl used. The lugs you have are the first ones made and are copy's of Slingerland R.K. lugs..Your lugs date from about 1967 and go into 1975.The second lug made came out on about 1972 and these had springs inside the lug with a nut insert. Also the first ones with the flat insert like yours were metric thread. Also the lug you posted is a snare drum lug.The bass drum and toms lugs were pointed at the end somewhat like a 60's Sonor lug..I have bass drum and tom lugs and snare lugs.I would also have the rail mount and most other parts that you would need to restore your set....Mikey
