Have a question on hoops. Working on a Stewart kit, Pearl made early 70's. The holes in the hoops are all elongated on the 12" tom. Will a later Pearl hoop work? (6 lug)
Thanks Trev.
All depends on the profile of the lug. Grab a typical Pearl Diamond (rectangle) lug and install it on that drum - and compare install your rim - see if there is a difference. Actually, you will likely be able to tell just by checking out the profile on that lug vs. your Stewart lug.
You DO know what typical Pearl lug I speak of right? The one that has been on probably over 1 million drumsets - various badges.
So.....ripped the black wrap off there aye? What are your plans for it?
John
I suspect you will have no problem as long as the number of holes is the same. Nothing is truly universal on those stencil drums (kinda makes you wonder why we call them stencils) but my own experience has been that hoops are generally transferable.
thanks guys, I'll pick some hoops up and hope its a better fit. Strange though, the rest of the hoops line up nice.
John just playing around with ideas. I like the look of "natural wood". Three coats cherry stain/sealer inside and out to brighten it up and three coats clear outside and polished the hardware. If it was a cool rap on it I wouldn't touch it other than bearing edges.

Hello Trevor ..GREAT JOB!!!..the kit looks AWESOME!!
Question for you ...did you make the spurs from a floor tom leg and bend them like that?
I have the same spur brackets on my Crown and Matador kits and no spurs for either
long straight ones look so God awful .......................Kenwood
Thanks for the kind words. The spurs are original. I did bend them and fully extend them to get the batter side up so the kick pedal would be 90 deg. when played.
I put them in a vise and gradually bent them till I had the right angle.
I'm sure FT legs would work. Most likely have to cut them. Hope that helps.
