Clubdate....

Wonderful job!! I love stuff like this, when an inventive guy like you takes a bunch of parts and makes a usuable set. Love your hardware design work.

You know, if I were you, I'd buy some really cool vintage wrap someplace and wrap that set. Its so retro and cool.

Great job, kid!!

YES IT IS VERY COOL AND NEEDS A NICE WRAP ON IT. YOU CAN FILL ALL THE EXTRA HOLES IN THE PROCESS AND ADD ANOTHER LEG AS WELL. oops caps lock was on..........Most of the drum wrap suppliers have wraps on special. Just dont do the wrap your drums for 59.95 from ebay.

I think the kit sounds great. As an "old guy" that gets tired haulin' around a full sized kit yours make me want to put together a similar cocktail kit.

Clubdate - I just set up my Ludwig Reversable Speedmaster to work on the bottom of my 16X16 floor tom. As a substitute for a bass drum it sounds pretty bad. Way too much "ring" (sustain) and, of course, the pitch is wrong. Do you have any special tuning tips to use a floor tom as a "cocktail" bass drum?

Well this is a way late reply, but I used a falam slam impact pad on a remo emperor clear for the bottom. And coated emperor topside.

I tried moongels to mute the bottom, but ended up going to the old felt strip.

Top is tuned just above the warbly or baggy sound, and I of course stretched the crap out of both top and bottom heads. ( got heads on finger tight and placed my palm in the middle, pushed all my body weight on both sides)

The trade off is either a baggy bass drum or a choked floor tom. I figure the kick was more important. Floor Tom is just more for accents.

Hope that helps.
