MIJ Cymbal Stand Question

Loading...

On the cymbal stand shown in the attached photo what is the correct assembled sequence? Mine has some type of carriage bolt mechanism on it that doesn't appear to be original and I know it needs a sleeve and wing nut of some type. I just need to see a photo or detailed description of what it is supposed to look like assembled. I am beginning to wonder if it is a Japanese stand for sure as the all of the tightening wing bolts are USA 1/4" thread rather than metric, but maybe they made them that way also. This was part of the Star set I recently acquired for rehab.

Thanks

I have several like that. The carriage bolt is non-original, but can easily be replaced. On mine, I widened the hole slightly an put an 8mm hex head screw in it's place, since 8mm is a very common size for cymbal sleeves, wing nuts, felts etc. I got a long 8mm hex head screw (head pointing up), inserted the screw through the enlarged hole and put a stop nut on either side of the hole, along with proper sized washers. I simply tightened the stop nuts on either side of the hole, leaving the screw tight. I then just cut the screw to the length I wanted (cutting the head side off), added a standard washer, felt and sleeve and I was good to go.
