Been researching vintage Trixon drums and I've noticed that many seem to have been re-wrapped. I just picked up a mid 60's set of Telstars, and the wrap is very faded, and unevenly so. So I'm thinking this is a common problem. Since it seems that most of these get re-wrapped, will I be committing collector sacriledge if I re-wrap them? Will it kill the resale value? Although they are structurally in good shape, with the wrap faded as it is they don't look that great right now.

they look good as is
Super rare...
Would be hard to recover..too.....
1965 Trixon Telstar, would have been Aqua sparkle, personally I would keep them as they are as would fetch more money in the original state and also hold the price too for many years to come..It's also good that you have the matching snare and also the cymbal arm as these are very rare..
yours probably was the same as the attached if that helps...

Mozart: Yes, rewrapping will cut the resale into about half. The other thing is...do you know how tough it is to rewrap a conical drum? The wrap has to be cut on an angle and its hideous. If you choose to rewrap, make sure you send them to a vintage drum EXPERT who has rewrapped conical drums before.
I'm lucky....my 1965 Trixon Telstar is WMP and tho its faded, after a polish with Novus, it looks beautiful. Mine have faded evenly so they all match.
