re: the 14" floor tom - i notice that the spacing for the large classic lugs looks pretty correct. Did you have to plug the clubdate holes, then redrill large classic holes? or do the clubdate holes correspond to large classic lug holes?

Those look nice! Love this type project with orphan shells.

I ended up using the clubdate holes as the base for each lug. I found that by using those respective holes for the bottom and then drilling new holes for the top. This ended up giving me the same distance from the bearing edge on both sides (I think it was right around 1 3/4" or 2", but I can't remember exactly).

They look great. I really like unique wrap colors. I think Orange Mod is the best of all of the psychedelic wraps. The other colors are just too busy and the color clash to much.

Sorry for asking ... Did you use the hi-bond tape or 3M adhesive?

Did you have to trim any of the wrap?

whaaaaatttt!?!?! really!?!

i know exactly what you mean - i.e. the TOP hole for the clubdate bowtie lug became the bottom hole for the top large classic lug.

see i've been thinking about doing this. Except when i checked it out for 14" floor toms it doesn't work. Let me explain:

Normally on 14" floor toms - the hole for the badge is DIRECTLY in line with the bottom hole of the large classic lugs (see here (you have to use your imagination)

But if you look at the clubdate 14" floor toms, the TOP hole of the bowtie lugs is significantly lower down than the badge hole (see here (again, you have to use your imagination)

But if you look at your 14" mod orange floor tom, the bottom hole of the large classic lug looks like it DOES like up with the badge hole...

do you have ANY pictures at all of that 14" floor tom? pre and post rewrap etc.?

A mid-60's re-wrap project I just completed for The Doors band I play in called Break On Through. I'm still messing around with the tuning to achieve John Densmore's sound without taking the resonate side heads off. The battery on the camera died, but it still gives you an idea of how it sounds. I also am using my 6.5 x 14 Ludwig Black Beauty snare drum.
