Michael Lee No Quarter snare drum on Ebay

Loading...

This one's being offered by Todd Trent on ebay....thought I'd share it.....a nice piece of Page/Plant history.

I remember watching the MTV No Quarter special and saying to myself, "who is this guy on the kit? Not only is he trying to look like Bonham, but he sure does have the grooves down!" Later I found out his name was Michael Lee.

I met him in 1995 on the Page/Plant tour when they played the old Boston Garden (they were to tear it down that fall). I was working days at the Museum of Science in Boston at the time and he came into the museum to see the Omni Theater show (much like Imax, but slightly different) along with Robert Plant! Robert was very nice (as was Michael) and he was nice enough to autograph an old Zeppelin 8-track I had kicking around the office (we had an old home 8-track player and lots of old cool 70's rock 8-tracks there too....just for fun) he thought it was such an obscure request that he had to do it. :D Anyway, it was nice to meet both of them that day. I was a bit sad the day I heard Michael had passed.

Wish I had the $$ to pick this up, but alas, I must leave it to another collector to scoop up....at least I had the opportunity to meet him and have that memory.....

As a post-script to that story, some of the guys from work went with me after work down to the Berklee area to hit the music shops. We were a bit amped up after meeting those guys...talk about cool! Anyway, we go into this small guitar shop that used to specialize in vintage guitars....who do we run into testing out a couple of vintage guitars? Jimmy Page!! I kid you not! Talk about coolness X 2!! Lightning did strike twice that day!

I gotta tell ya....I had the most fun working at the Museum back then (1990's)....I met so many celebrities it isn't funny. Joe Perry and Steven Tyler (with their families) from Aerosmith. Brad Delp from Boston (who I had met several times over the years. Great guy, too bad he had to go the way he did. Still miss you Brad!) but the real mind blower was meeting Bobby Orr. Man that was so cool! I was like that little 5 year old kid again! Bobby Orr and the Big Bad Bruins!

Ok....I gotta stop name dropping now....:p
