Metric Heads?>>

Thanks Calf, thats really good info to have.

Those heads are really expensive and I really dont think I'm going to do a full bore restoration on this set......it would cost too much, and I'd never recoup it.

Rather, I'll give all the drums and hardware a good cleaning and polishing and change the hoops all around in order for it to use standard 13 inch heads and 22 inch for the bass.

I probably will replace all the tension rods on the snare and tom with shiny new Sonor ones tho, that will make a big diffference.

It will look about 1,000X better after a cosmetic resto.

Oddball:

Thats very close to my set, VERY close. My bass drum uses the long rods and not the lugs, same as the pic.

But my snare drum is not as deep, and mine has the mount on the bass drum for the tom tom rod. Also, the cymbal mount is off to the side on mine, not in the middle.

And mine has actual metal badges that screw into the shells. In the pic, I believe those are just painted on.

Other than that, they are the same. The one in the pic you posted is in BEAUTIFULL shape tho. Mine isnt....:)

Oddball.....Just type in Sonor 1927 set and the video will come up as the first one in the listings.

Where did the picture in your post come from?? Thats not from the video of the guy with the 1927 bass pedal.

All my comments were about the set in the picture, not the actual video.

The set in the picture is like, mint. Super nice!!! But why the tom is not mounted on the bass drum is a mystery. Maybe he doesnt have the mounting arm. But....boy, what a nice looking set. I wish mine was that nice, or even close!!

That`s one of his 50`s kits, the one he used in the video.

He is on the forums at the sonor museum site under Old Sonor Talk, and the thread title is,...sonors` first double bass pedal (1920s`) The photo is in his thread !!
