mesh front bass drum heads

Loading...

Is there such thing as a mesh front bass drum head available? I believe it was mentioned somewhere in the forum. Anyone with info, experience or availability would be greatly appreciated. My 20" gig kick sounds best with little or no head. As soon as i put a head with a hole in it, the sound dies. Thought this might be better looking alternative. Thanks

Hi Johnnyz,

Evans makes the head you are referring to. It is called the Retro Screen. Here is a link to it.

I have never used it, but if you are looking for that single headed sound, this will accomplish that while looking better than having no front head.

Best Wishes,

Sean

I know this is a older thread but seen the OP mentioned the evans screen only available in 22".

Couldn't any mesh head be used in this situation? Pearl makes a cheap one. Or you could spend a little extra and get a white one by Hart or Billy Blast in pretty much any standard size.

Mesh is mesh right?

Try making your own out of speaker cloth and the rim from an old head
