I was checking ebay last night and the cymbals going for 1300 and up are the K Zildjian IstanbulsI probably owned a few of those in my day. Sonically this cymbal is a solid rock ride. Rich, bright and natural!........as they say.

Don't confuse K Zildjians made in Istanbul or Constantinople (the real old ones!) for the Istanbul brand. While the Istanbul brands are similar and made by the cymbalsmiths that worked for the K factory, they are not considered to be worth anywhere near what a vintage Turkish K is worth, which is a shame as they sound fantastic! Real Turkish K's will always be cherished by the collectors, Istanbul brands I'm afraid will probably not be as much.

WIKI says Zildjiler but looking at the stamp on this cymbal its Zilciler for sure. What does WIKI know anyway?...........LOL. You seem to know a lot aobut the company. I am fascinated by the history and your wealth of knowledge about it.For as long as I been playing and buying drum gear I should know!

A friend of mine, Joe Winokur, who owned Joe's Drum Shop in Beverly, Mass. used to be an Istanbul brand dealer. He carried them pre-split, then carried both for a short time, finally deciding on being a Mehmet Istanbul dealer as he thought they sounded better overall compared to the Agop Istanbuls. He was the one that got the low-down on the company for me and others that were interested. Great guy....miss him so much. (He passed away from cancer a few years back. The family still owns the shop but is only open limited hours now.)

Ludwig Dude, great info about Istanbul. When I was in Istanbul(city not factory),they told me that bad relationship betweem Mehmet and Agop started earlier, and Mehmet made company Turkish cymbals while he was still in Istanbul ,pre split. So today Istanbul Mehmet and Turkish are two companies on the same place, same factory, same tools ,same workers. One day they make Mehmet, other day Turkish
