Matching a 50s hat

I have a 50s hat, 839 grams, that I would like to complete as a pair.

BTW, this came from Mlayton, thanks again, Mike, for a great transaction!!

Should I narrow my focus on acquiring a bottom hat to complete this pair?

If so, what weight might I look for?

Would a lighter hat for the top be more appropriate?

That might be a tougher find, I know.

Anyhow, thanking you in advance for your help..!!

I remember that cymbal. Great weight for a 15". I would either try to find something near the same weight creating a "matched pair" weight or I would try to find something heavier to use on the bottom more towards a New Beat setup. Something near 1200 grams would put you in the New Beat style and should be easier to find. Good luck!

I had a lone 15" 70's Canadian Zildjian A and "in the mean time" found a Sabian SR2 medium with some hammering for under a 100 bucks. A real clunker of a crash, but perfect for New Beat ratio. I haven't really bothered to look for a matching A since (but i'm sure i'm way less OCD than others about unmatched gear) . These record like a charm with a warm medium dark wash when opened. Even though they are slightly loud it's not overbearing because the tone sits lower than other hats. Then downside is I'm back to lugging a heavier gauge hi hat stand to accommodate the weight of 15" hats.
