Matching 1960s Pearl Blue Sparkle Wrap

Loading...

I recently acquired a set of Pearl 1960s Center Lug "Valencias" in Blue Sparkle, but without a floor tom. I was lucky enough to find a Valencia center lug floor tom in WMP. Other than the color, its a perfect match.

So, I've been looking around for a wrap that will match the Pearl. "Modern" Blue Sparkle wont do it, the old pearl finish is darker and has a hint of turquoise.

BUT......I think I've found something that looks like a decent match.....The "Midnight Glitter" finish on this page:

Looks like it will get me by....but I'd love to know if any of you guys who have the same color Pearl drums to take a look and see if you also think its a close enough match. I'd say in a club, no one would know. Your thoughts?

Also, would anyone know what size sheet I need to cover a 14 X 14 floor tom?

thanks!!

Mike, they should be willing to provide you a sample. Have you contacted them to see? I have gotten samples from several vendors. They want your business, especially when they are paying less than half /sheet than they sell for and that is for full sheets. So, they sell a 14x14 cut for 78, the sheet it came from cost them 35....see my point? They typically get the samples from the manufacturer, these come from seconds or otherwise damaged sheets. When I was in the traila bizness, we had tons of samples sent to us from every major supplier of home building products you can think of, and some you can't. Many we had to pay for, but most were free.

EDIT: Jamminsams.com also has what looks to be the same color glitter, called Dark Blue Glass, and Precision has it, Midnight Blue as well.

Update:

The Turquois and Midnite Glitter samples arrived today. Neither is a good match, altho the Midnite Glitter could pass in a club, but its really much too "purplish. So both are out.

However:

I think I found what is going to be the closest match possible with new wrap. Its a vinyl wrap called "Zodiac Cascade". Its not perfect, but it looks to be very, very close. I think I'm going to go with that.
