My neighbor bought a set with lots of extras. In the extras is 16" crash with Manny stamped into it. I'm pretty sure it also has a Zildjian stamp. Any help? It sounds pretty good and he's offered to sell it to me cheap. What's it worth.
Thanks

That a Zildjian 2nd. There's really no way to guage it's worth since they are not in demand and are seldom seen.
Thanks for the response. What era where they? It seems to be 70's ish.
Were they 'seconds" ? Or just A's contracted particularly for Manny's Music ?
Yeah, that'd be the '70's, I think. Consider a '70's A 16" is worth about $65-75. So use that as a guide when proposing a price.
$40 or $50 and you would be getting a good deal....
BTW...I have come across a few Avedis seconds over time...and each I have ever put a stick to, sounded pretty good.

Actually in a sense they were both. First they had to be classified as a second and then they were given the Manny's stamp and sent over there. If you inspect these Manny's cymbals carefully you'll usually find just what it was that gave them second class status in the eyes of Zildjian. And it was usually something innocuous with no affect on the sound. Often they were various foundry artifacts like ripples. Strictly cosmetic.
I think most of these were 1970's era. I once had a pair of 14" "Manny's" hats and they sounded just as good if not better than most of the first line Zildjian's I've ever heard.
