Lyra kit color I.D.???

From jimrolli

I've got a Star kit in the same finish.Looks we'll both be searching for a floor tom in the same finish now!

I have a 16" but I would like to add a 14" 3ply to the setup.

Currently my first set ever 1983 Pearl Export original owner. 2008 Grestch Catalina Maple, and a 1970 Star kit. Many snares including a big R Dynasonic.
Previous Rogers Holiday 12, 16, 20 and powertone snare.
Premier apk and Premier Cabria kits.

Hello idrum4fun,

Hey guy thank you very much for posting that color chart for the Lyra drums

I see now that even before fading the wrap does have a good percentage of "greenish strata" for lack of the proper term while there is definitely a lessor percentage of a distinct bluish strata as well.

and just as Puremusic has pointed out as often being the case,

it appears that on my kit, at least based on the few seller's pics I have

(the kit still has not arrived)that percentage of blue, has faded away to a grey

Understand that you're both in search of a floor tom now. But it was quite common to sell such 3-pc-kits back in the 60's. So it might become very/ difficult to find an orphan floor tom for it!

Best of luck for you both!

I figured I would dig this old thread out and update things

I have had these three Lyra drums for a few years now minus a floor tom

I recently found a 16" floor tom in the matching blue oyster wrap

It was even posted as a Lyra drum,

but missing from it is the oval badge pictured

If someone has one they can spare I would sure like to hear about it

I could use the bass drum tom arm also

The one pictured is some improvised thrown together job

I'm afraid I can't help you with the badge, Kenwood, but I'm glad you bumped this thread. I hadn't seen it before; looks like we have the same kit, except mine is wrapped in blue sparkle pearl (restoration thread linked in my sig), which I just learned thanks to the color chart idrum4fun posted on the last page. I also have a Majestic one-ply 14x14 floor tom in the same color.

You wouldn't happen to have any extra bass drum claws and T-rods, would you?

A quick shot of the newly found floor tom

Doug I have at least three Star projects

hurting for T's and claws I could use both the faucet handles and the Sonor clones as well.

In the most common of cases the resonant side hardware is always missing

I like to move the usually original batter side stuff out in front

and then make do with whatever works in back

I've changed swivel nuts to use mis-matched Ts

since most of the kits are primarily for display

I have used only three rods per side on some of the six lug drums just to have them appear at a distance

to be a little more complete having both drumheads attached at least

In this particular case this Lyra bass drum came to me 100% complete

save for the muldoon tom arm

In some of my most recent finds the kits have had nothing but the shells, the wrap, and the lugs,

everything else, needs finding ...that hunt is ongoing in most cases

Yeah, I'd thought about using 4 T's on the batter side and the other 4 on the resonant side, at least temporarily. I don't even have a second hoop yet, so hopefully I'll be able to find some matching T's at some point during this restoration.

That's a great looking floor tom, love the wrap. Looking forward to seeing pics of the whole kit (with the new addition) all set up and ready to play.
