The faded spot on the BD looks like overspray that passed the taped off area to make the stripe,..didn`t work out too well !!

My guess is that it is not original - as perhaps if it were, the red might also be sparkle/glitter. I would pick it up if you can remove the red stripe - but you would probably have to see it in person to evaluate that possibility.
Looks like a Star made kit - a bonus that it has the cymbal arm.

As a airbrusher painter, i think too that the fade area is just a careless work. And a bad taste.
The painter just use a 10cm tape to protect the shell. But airbrush makes clouds of paint. The BD was perhaps the first he paint cause he protect the other.
Try to scratch it with tact on the stripe and a 600 emery on the paint spray
The orange sparkle is nice.
Bon courage!

As some have said.No the red stripe is not origional. Its painted on the drums..If the drums are cheap not more than 75.00 for the set i would pick up...Mikey
I reckon the red paint should clean off easily...looks like a spray can job..

Here is the bad news. Extra holes in snare drum. Not the correct throw off I assume (duh). This seller does not have a price, he is excepting offers. There are two cymbals and stands with the kit, I need to see what they are before making an offer.
It could be a nice kit if the red comes off and dosent leave a footprint.

Hello,
the strainer is not correct. This one must be a Pearl's one or so. STAR never used lever parts, where the wire tension adjustment knob was at the top - it's been at the bottom always (when they used this strainer system).
You can fill the four holes easily with pieces of wood and use round cuts of the wrap from under one (or two) lugs to cover them afterwards. Should be no prob at all - if the wrap isn't faded to much against the 'new' wrap from under the lugs.
Ralf
Yes after looking again I do think the there is overspray from the red paint. I think that and the red paint can be removed without too much trouble. Could be a nice looking kit if sucsessful. Good advice on filling the holes Ralf but it would be nice to just find the correct strainer. Im going to make an offer once I learne more about the cymbals.

A+ Ralf,You called it right. The strainer is a Pearl made one that you would fine on many made snares by Pearl. The strainer that should be on the drum is a copy of a Rogers "CLassman" strainer thats way the 4 extra holes are on the drum..A easy fix like Ralf said or you could get some fine sawdust mix in alittle gold sparkle mix it with white glue and fill in the holes....Jeff if you need a strainer for the drum i have one....Mikey
