Ludwig/WFL classic snare wires

As everyone knows these wires are impossible to get as are the puresounds made for these,I had one that I put on puresound 1520 wires and dremelled the end plate (strainer side) to fit through the snare gate,it worked great. I since have sold that drum and have recently bought another 1956 classic snare (with the regular butt- not extended)which actually came with great condition puresound classic snares,I wanted to save them so I saw FATCAT 1516np wires online and thought I'd give them a try. Mine came from Pennsylvania I believe, I live in Vancouver Canada and with a backorder they took 5 weeks. These have the same 16 wires as original and the end plate doesn't need any mods and fits nicely through the snare gate and on the strainer just inside the casing as it should, I only had to dremell a small hole for the screw. The snare wire butt end plate is maybe 1/8"- 3/16" from where it should be on the head. With adjusting the strap/cords at the butt the strainer works as it should with the wires dropping completely off the head. And they sound excellent!!

Just thought I'd throw this option out
