A guy came over today and was thinking about rewraping these drums. I said, Noo , so I traded him a brand new ddrum set for them.

Got these,.

For those

I had $195 in the ddrums.

How did I do? THose old Ludwigs sound pretty good now as is . There going to clean up pretty good. That stain wiped off easily. was beer or something. The 3 drums are a set. got a 12" too but it is off color a little. If someone needs it?? What about that cymbal mount. There are no extra holes. Is that cymbal mount original? The guy said he has the mufflers and L cymbal rod he is getting to me also.

looks like the bass is a transition badge. the others are probably pre serial ludwigs if they all came together. not uncommon at all to see the badges mixed like this.

LUCKYYYYYY! I want one...

Great trade, I feel like you got a great deal. Possibly an outstanding deal depending on how good they clean up. I loooooove project kits. Cool1

I am going to start cleaning them up today. I also believe they are a transition kit. Have the original white paint inside the shells of the toms and the bass drum is clear coated. The wraps are great too. the guy kept then in cases. Nice nickel lugs all around. Really just now getting to go over them. Took the 13" tom apart last night just to check out the inside of the shell. everything looks fine. will get the bassball bat mufflers and cymbal stand from him this week hopefully. What is the best thing too use on them to bring the color back out on that gold sparkle?

How close do you think I can get them to the finish under the lugs? of course it is a shade lighter but beautiful. I will post some nice pics when I get them all cleaned up and the bass hoops repainted.

If they are reall dirty I use bon-ami on a damp spong to get the dirt off but I heard guys using 409 and other products as well. Then shine them with the Novus # 2 or even that spray on Turtle wax works good. Just dont use anything with an abrasive, as you already know. Have fun, I love cleaning up old drums! Then do post som more pictures too please.
